Bruce Thomas (creater of the T-Lift) - Burley, ID
The T-Lift concept came to me after getting stuck during an Elk hunting trip. I was on my way to a hunt spot in Idaho and had to cross a frozen creek that normally didn't cause much concern. However, on this day, the creek had a fallen log in it causing the water to build up and create an ice dam. I briefly thought about turning back, but decided to take my Ford F250 right through the middle to get to prime Elk hunting territory.
Needless to say, I didn't make it to my hunt spot. In fact, my hunt partners and I spent most of the morning getting the truck out of the ice-creek. I had the necessary items in my truck to get out of most situations. I had a Hi-Lift® Jack, chains, blocks of wood, tow cable and a "comalong." Most of the difficulty in getting out of the creek was a result of not having a secure spot on the truck to lift with the jack. Here we were, "mid-wheel" deep in a river full of ice...now what? We did what most peope do, we used the jack to lift the truck using the bumper as no piece of the frame is accessable. Eventually we got each tire lifted, chained the tires and got out of the creek. Once we were out of the creek we basically had to head back to camp.
The story doesn't end there. The truck was in the river for so long, and the temperature was so cold, that the truck brakes were frozen. We had to navigate a windy hill with no brakes and rely on gearing the truck down appropriately. Once we found a flat spot, my son had a road flare in his bag and we heated up the disks and drums enough to have some braking potential to get us down the rest of the hill to camp. As we drove to camp, I thought about how dangerous the jack situation was and the damage to my truck bumper and the T-Lift concept was born. I made numerous prototypes and ended up with a product that will safely and quickly allow you to jack up a tire to get yourself out of a dangerous situation. Enjoy the T-Lift!

I was driving home on a snowy day and slid off the road into the ditch. After much effort, I couldn't get any traction with my tires and I was nearly high centered. I used the T-Lift to help jack up the rear tire, then the front tire in order to put some rocks and branches under the tires. That did the trick. I could not place a standard jack or handyman jack anywhere to help my situation without using the T-Lift. It only took me minutes to lift a tire off the ground, even though I was high centered!
